Pregnancy and Parenting Team

The service for pregnant women is a partnership between the Addiction Unit and the obstetric departments at St James’s University Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary. The Addiction Unit part of the service contributes medical time, nursing time, and social work time: the latter has a key role in co-ordinating child protection and substance misuse agencies. The obstetric departments each have a drug liaison midwife who is specially trained to work with pregnant women who use substances.

Dual Diagnosis Team

The work of the Dual Diagnosis Team is on a shared care basis with general psychiatrists.

Health Care Team

The team provide a substance misuse liaison service to St James’s University Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary. In addition to helping with an individual’s care while in hospital the team continue to see people who have complex physical health and substance misuse needs when they come out of hospital. This team also provides on-site detoxification clinics five mornings per week.
